NRA Basic Pistol – 2018

The NRA Basic Pistol course is designed to familiarize the new or experienced shooter with the safe and proper use of the pistol. Experienced shooters can also benefit from a review of fundamentals, especially with our one-on-one NRA Certified Instructor coaching.

Topics Covered:

  1. Safety, Safety, Safety
  2. Types of handguns
  3. Parts and operations
  4. Ammunition choices and selection
  5. Using and operating a handgun safely
  1. Cleaning, storing, and transporting a handgun
  2. Range commands and procedures
  3. Grip and stance
  4. Sight alignment
  5. Trigger press

Equipment:

  1. Any handgun in good operating condition that fires non-magnum ammunition.
    • Example: (.357 Magnum pistol O.K. if .38 Special ammunition is used.
  2. Spare magazines or speedloaders are not required, but are highly recommended.

Requirements:

  1. Eye and ear protection is required on the indoor and outdoor range.
  2. You must be a club member (senior, spousal or junior member) to enroll.
  3. A non-refundable payment of $150.00 with check or cash is required at registration

Signup for the class will be in the main clubhouse on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 7 pm. Show up early to make sure you have a chance to get the class you want.

RULES:

  1. Registration is Thursday, January 25, 2018 in the Clubhouse at 7 pm. Show up early as the classes fill up very quickly. The clubhouse opens at 6 am. A sign up sheet will be on the membership desk where you can sign up for registration priority. Once your name is on the priority sign up sheet, you can leave and return for registration at 7 pm. Names will be called in the order listed on the sign up sheet.
  2. Classes will be available on a first come, first served basis. You must physically show up to register. No registration by mail, web or at the general meetings.
  3. Payment for the class is due in full at the time of registration.
  4. You may have a surrogate come to register for you. Your surrogate must be able to provide all the registrant information and full payment for the class at that time.
  5. You can download the registration form off the LPRGC website using the link provided below or fill one out at the clubhouse for registration.
  6. If the classes fill up, you will be able to wait list for a cancellation or get priority placement for next years classes.
