Montgomery County Youth Field Day

Looking for a way to introduce children ages 9 to 15 to outdoor activities like hunting, trapping and fishing?  Check out the Montgomery County Youth Field Day.  It is a one day, totally free event that allows up to 200 children to try out 8 activities, including rifle, shotgun, black powder, archery, fishing, canoeing, ATV safety and a wildlife scavenger hunt.

Unfortunately, there will be no MCYFD in 2021 due to the coronavirus.  Even though the event is normally held in late August, planning begins very early in the year.  By the time the pandemic restrictions were lifted, there was not enough time to create an event for 2021.  We are already planning for a full return in 2022.  For more information on the Youth Field Day, click here.

Hunter/Trapper Education Classes

Pennsylvania now offers two ways to obtain the certification you need to purchase a hunting license.  There are the traditional courses that have been taught at LPRGC for many years.  There are also full independent study courses, that can be completed totally on-line.

TRADITIONAL HTE COURSES TAUGHT AT LPRGC

The following are the traditional Hunter/Trapper Educations courses taught at LPRGC. There is no fee to take the traditional course. These courses are for the most part taught by live instructors in a classroom style, with some independent study. Students must be at least 11 years of age to take these courses.  The links for these courses can be found further down this page.
