NRA Basic Pistol

The NRA Basic Pistol course is designed to familiarize the new or experienced shooter with the safe and proper use of the pistol. Experienced shooters can also benefit from a review of fundamentals, especially with our one-on-one NRA Certified Instructor coaching.

  2. Types of handguns
  3. Parts and operations
  4. Ammunition choices and selection
  5. Using and operating a handgun safely
  1. Cleaning, storing, and transporting a handgun
  2. Range commands and procedures
  3. Grip and stance
  4. Sight alignment
  5. Trigger press

Equipment:

  1. Any handgun in good operating condition that fires non-magnum ammunition.
    • Example: (.357 Magnum pistol O.K. if .38 Special ammunition is used.
  2. Spare magazines or speedloaders are not required, but are highly recommended.

Requirements:

  1. Eye and ear protection is required on the indoor and outdoor range.
  2. Members receive first priority in enrollment.
  3. A non-refundable payment of $125.00 with check or cash is required at registration.
  4. If a member purchases Basic Pistol, Personal Protection Inside the Home, and Personal Protection Outside the Home at the same time, the member will receive a $50 discount off of the total cost.
Signup for the NRA Basic Pistol, Personal Protection Inside the Home and Personal Protection Outside the Home classes will be in the clubhouse on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 7pm.  Show up early to make sure you have a chance to enroll in the class of your choice. 

RULES:

  1. Registration is Monday, January 15, 2024 at 7pm.  Show up early as the classes fill up quickly.  The Clubhouse opens at 6am.  When the clubhouse opens, there will be a sign up sheet on the membership desk where you can sign up for registration priority.  Once your name is on the priority sign up sheet, you can leave and return at 7pm.  Names will be called in the order listed on the sign up sheet.
  2. Classes will be available on a first come, first served basis.  You must be physically present to register.  There will be no registrations accepted by mail or at the general meetings ahead of the main registration.
  3. Payment in full is due at registration
  4. You may have a surrogate come and register for you.  The surrogate must be able to provide all registrant information and make full payment for the class at that time
  5. You may download and complete the registration form from the link below or complete on in the clubhouse at the time of registration
  6. If the classes fill up, you may place your name on a wait list to get priority placement if any spots open up or to get placement for next year’s classes.
